Keeping Cool (and Clean)

In March, Clean and Cool Mission 2012 selected Aeristech as one of its Mission companies. The Mission aims to facilitate dynamic UK talent in the influential U.S. market. Following fierce competition, they identified sixteen companies that demonstrated the “potential to become future UK leaders of a low carbon economy,” through high growth potential and ground-breaking products tackling Earth’s environmental challenges. The winning companies received exclusive invitations to the seven day Clean and Cool entrepreneurial showcase in San Francisco.

Silicon Valley, renowned for technological development, provided the ideal location to introduce Aeristech to potential American partners. Recent Clean and Cool figures indicate $3.69bn of the $9bn 2011 global investment by venture capitalists in clean technology originated in the Bay Area. This makes California the financial centre of the clean technology industry, as well as a U.S. leader in greenhouse gas emissions legislation. A combination that provides a dynamic environment uniquely appealing to the Mission companies.

Nicholas Gill, Aeristech Corporate Director, presented alongside the other Mission companies at the event, which was hosted in partnership by the Technology Strategy Board, UK Trade and Investment, The Co-Sponsorship Agency, private sponsors and The Long Run Venture. Hosting a collective event for sixteen Mission companies garnered widespread press attention, including a mention in Forbes Magazine, and allowed Mission companies to meet a more influential audience than they could alone. Aeristech participated in working/networking activities hosted by prominent Mission Partners, including Shell Gamechanger. We introduced our innovative fullElectric electric turbocharger technology to potential American partners and increased engagement with key corporate entities. We also valued the opportunity to connect with like-minded UK technology companies, sharing experiences, pitches and presentations.

This group approach has proven successful for the Mission since its 2008 inception. Over 20% of Mission alumni have launched an American subsidiary. Collectively, they’ve raised more than $180m in private finance since their involvement, and of last year’s Mission companies, six were selected for the Global Cleantech 100 list.

Aeristech enjoyed introducing ourselves to the American market through the Clean and Cool Mission 2012. We anticipate further success from all our fellow Mission companies.
