PCB Layout Engineer

Reporting to the Electronic Engineering Team Leader, the PCB Layout Engineer will be working on a broad spectrum of layout portfolios from the digital and analogue control boards to high power and high voltage PCB designs, and will be responsible for the below:

Main Responsibilities

  • Design digital, analogue and Power printed circuit boards, collaborating across functions and projects.

  • Working with the electronics and mechanical engineers to analyse and interpret PCB requirements.

  • Owning the PCB design and layout from including physical definition right through to drawing release.

  • Performing peer reviews of PCB designs & library data to ensure they are suitable for release

  • Create manufacturing data packs and documentation that comply with both company and industry standard processes.

  • Assist with work package planning and scheduling to meet project milestones

  • Ability to clearly communicate to mechanical, electronic designers, test engineers, manufacturing group any PCB or PCBA limitations associated with their initial proposals and influencing the adoption of alternative solutions in line with best practice.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback

  • Maintenance of the company electronics design CAD (Altium) system - To include design version control, component library maintenance

  • Make proposals on ECAD process improvement

Qualifications and Experience

  • Min 5 year experience with Altium PCB design software
  • Proficient in determining layer stack-up, PCB material selection, component package selection, component placement, routing feasibility studies, and signal routing of digital, analogue and power traces in PCBs
  • Experience with low noise design and minimization of EMI/EMC in an Automotive environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and self-organise
