Senior Development Engineer: E-Magnetics

Aeristech is a start-up SME engineering company enabling carbon reduction across a range of sectors with unique high-speed electric motor IP. We are continuing to grow our diverse and highly skilled team with UK government backing through Innovate UK and collaborations with leading companies including Cummins and GKN Aerospace.

The role of Senior Development Engineer: E-Magnetics is be part of a fast-paced R&D team that prototypes new ideas before handing over new innovations to the main engineering team.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Research and Development the role will involve, but not limited to:
  • Detailed E-magnetic design of high-speed permanent magnet motors.
  • Simulation of E-magnetic performance and thermal simulation.
  • Working with the power electronics team to optimise inverter/ motor interface.
  • Working with the design team to detail magnet/shaft and stator components and assist with drawing production.
  • Working with the production and purchasing teams to source required components.
  • Validation and verification of models and analysis by testing e-magnetic components.
  • Further development of internal design standards.

Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with rotating machines.
  • Detailed understanding of theoretical applications of magnetic principles and motor design
  • Enthusiastic and keen to be part of developing new technology for Hydrogen economy.
  • Creative thinking – able to solve problems and generate original ideas
  • Self-motivated, creative, high attention to detail.
  • Able to design tests based on original specifications
